There is no doubt that creativity is the most important human resource of all. Without creativity, there would be no progress, and we would be forever repeating the same patterns.”

My Story
My name is Sarah Mann Kogelschatz and I’ve been a Maryland lawyer since 2008. I am licensed to practice law in Maryland and the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. My primary practice areas are labor and employment, contract disputes, and personal injury.
I began my career as a judicial law clerk in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County, followed by a litigation attorney position at a law firm in Towson, MD from 2009-2014. I launched Legal MannPower, LLC in 2014, but remained Of Counsel at that firm until 2019.
I love everything that happens outside of the courtroom in litigation…research and writing, pouring through documents and honing facts, strategizing and planning. As a young lawyer, I was told over and over that this couldn’t be done. No one got to just do that part of litigation—the behind the scenes part where I thrived. So, I created it for myself with Legal MannPower, LLC.
I knew there was a need for what I do. I saw lawyers who didn’t always have time to sufficiently drill down on a case, while simultaneously running from depositions, to hearings, to trials. They couldn’t justify hiring another associate because their workflow wasn’t consistent. Sometimes they needed another lawyer, but not so frequently that they could justify the overhead of a full-time associate. That’s where I came in, providing extra support when needed and doing the work I love, without any long-term commitment from the lawyer.
It was a natural leap to offer that same flexibility to Maryland businesses that are in need of Human Resources support, but who don’t need to hire a full-time HR rep or in-house counsel. We meet virtually to discuss their needs. I draft personnel policies and forms and provide support throughout employee matters. If a matter goes to court, I assist the business in finding litigation counsel and am available to provide ongoing support as needed throughout the litigation process.
I also represent individuals and businesses directly in labor and employment cases, contract disputes and personal injury matters in Maryland. It is currently estimated that 95% of civil cases resolve prior to trial, and many of those cases can be settled before a lawsuit is even filed. I work with my clients to develop their case to the point that a demand for settlement can be made to the other side. If a legal matter can’t be resolved prior to court, I partner with experienced litigation counsel throughout the litigation phase.
